Star Wars Shennanigans.

JoeyJoJo and I went to see Star Wars 3 last night. It was great! I cried, I laughed, I sat on the edge of my seat with my heart pounding and my eyes hurting… and I felt a little disgusted at most of Padme (aka Natalie Portman)’s entirely too melodramatic lines. Anakin (aka Hayden Christensen), on the other hand, was actually better than I expected.

My beautiful companion and I staked out the entry of the cinema for a while, so we could be first in line for our group. We arrived at like 7 o’clock or something equally ridiculous, and the cute little cinema man gave us bright orange armbands.

He was super dooper nice, which was great. I decided, in my Very-Jessmukkah-Way, that snacks were required, so we went to coles. On the way, we bumped into a pack of very geeky boys (and one girl, which i will tell you about later) dressed as jedi. We talked to them, again in that Very-Jessmukkah-Way (with muchero joanne-ness), and we realised we don’t have any fear of strangers. Anyway, we went with them to coles, and were walking after them in the store when the little alpha-female-jedi turned around, gave us a funny look and said,
“Are you guys just going to, like, follow us around all night?”
Joanne and I cracked up. The alpha female jedi was getting annoyed at two other females hanging with her nerdy friends. Ahh, it was great.

Anyways, we got our snacks and went back to the cinema and sat around for a looooooong time, until lots of people started arriving. We saw two less geeky (and actually quite attractive) Jedi, and a sith, and we told them to have a light sabre battle for us. They did :p I bumped into lots of people I knew, we saw Dene, Frase, a few people from lanvictims, and some randoms from school. I swear I nearly knocked poor Dene over when I ran over and crushed him in a bear hug. When we were finally allowed in the cinema, there were only about twenty people in there, so I decided to introduce myself to everyone. The people at the front of the cinema were nicest, so we went and sat with them. One of them, this kinda-scary old guy who could do the rubiks cube was hitting on Joanne, which was (aside from being incredibly amusing) a little creepy. I was sitting at the other end of the row, with a boy called Matt, who was very nervous and wasn’t used to spending time with girls. It was fun. At the end of the movie we bailed quickly so we could get away from them, and went and hid. We were coming out from hiding when we saw Frase, so we said hi and talked to him, and then I saw two incredibly familiar people walk past. I gave them a puzzled look, and went and said hello. It turns out they were the ‘maccas boys’ from lanvictims, AKA Killswitch and Bloodthirst AKA James and Todd. They’re nice kids. Apparently Aldebrand and Nephilim were there too.

All in all, aside from needing to make a slightly panicked phone call to Carl, and bumping in to teachers OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL (omgshockhorrar) the night wasn’t too bad.

In other news, right now I’m talking to an old guy on the train about operating systems. He almost missed the train because there was noone at the ticket window. He struck up conversation with me by asking “how many usb ports does that laptop have?”. He’s a nice old guy, he is talking about his family and stuff. His son is in the british military and he plays the cornet, he plays Arban stuff every morning before breakfast. He lectures at rockhampton uni and he’s really really INTERESTING. It’s good to meet someone friendly for a change. He worked for ergon, bt, ING, and all kinds of awesome stuff. We were talking about programming languages for a little while before. Best. Old Person. Ever. He told me all about his kids, and how he has his PHD and whatnot. <3 awesome old people. Apparently I’m an “intelligent young lady.” He thought I was ~21. Woo!
