Catchup..

I figured I should just do a quick roundup of all the stuff that’s been happening, mostly to appease Rach and Ash (There. I blogged.)

New Years
We opted for a somewhat quiet one this year - Grant was having a party, and the fireworks are visible from my bedroom balcony - so I figured a combination of the two would be excellent. We showed up at Grant’s a little late, beer and wine in hand, and had a generally good evening. Laura is a fucking amazing cook, and Grant has an excellent selection of music. I had a chance to catchup with a few Telstra kids, but I really spent most of the night talking to the boy. Pointless going to a party when you’re just going to spend the whole night talking to the boyfriend, I know, but eh.

We left their place just in time to see the fireworks at home. In my drunken state I managed to spill all my secrets to Nathan - all the stuff I’d never told anyone - so now he knows everything. He didn’t run away screaming either, so I’m somewhat pleased.

Mum’s Birthday
Mum’s birthday is on the 5th of January - way too close to Christmas, if you ask me. Nathan and I decided to cook her some dinner, and spend the evening watching bad TV on her immeasurably comfortable couches.

Seriously, they’re fucking awesome.

We woke up earlyish, went to the gym for a bit of exercise and a loooot of stretching (I introduced Nathan to lunges) and then headed to Morgans for some fresh seafood.

I felt sorry for the girl behind the counter - I’m way too pushy sometimes. We ended up with a dozen oysters (huge ones), a few prawns, and some fantastic salmon.

I’d originally planned on going to Bunnings to get mum a gift from Jen, and one from me, but as we passed through the tail end of Deception Bay, I pulled into the nursery and found a couple of perfect gifts.

Chilli Bushes!

She wasn’t due home until 7:30, so Nathan did some bonding with Boobalah and some Gardening (I think she awnts to be the one marrying him for this alone) until we started the cooking. I’d advised him earlier that she had a penchant for Oysters kilpatrick, so he ended up making those, sashimi and prawns, and some apricot chicken. I contributed by peeling prawns and assembling a fruit platter.

I’ve got this post on paper so I’ll finish typing it when i get home.
